I’m Just Worn Out

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

It’s been a long few months around here. Lots to do, stress, sickness, etc. I admit, it’s gotten to me.

I’m exhausted. Oh and still sick. The two don’t pair well together. Or do they?

It’s required I slow down. That I look at my Christmas to do list and decide what really needs to be done.

I’ve made no goodies. No special deliveries of treats to friends. And our poor Elf on the Shelf, well he’s been sitting on the shelf. We just started this tradition this year. We got four good days in and then I forgot. I’m just so tired.

We’ve never been a hustle and bustle Christmas season family, so thankfully, we’re not missing out on anything but I still have this little nagging bit of stress nipping at me. Christmas shopping not really done. We also have a birthday boy next Friday. Almost done shopping for him.

We don’t even have a tree and the decoration boxes are staring at me in the living room. Perhaps tomorrow…

But this all brings me back to what matters. What really matters? Decorations don’t mean anything to Jesus. We celebrate Him in our hearts. He comes even if there are cobwebs and dirty socks on the floor.

Best of all, He comes even when my heart feels worn out and wheezes a “what’s the point?” Even when I am worn out. He comes to stay and He waits.

When I have a crummy attitude, He’s still there. Still holding on.

Even when…

Yep, still there.

So, if you are feeling lost and worn out, remember that the Shepherd waits and looks for his lost sheep. If you’re wandering. Stop. Let Him find you and bring you back. Because that’s what He does. What He does best.

‘What really matters? Decorations don’t mean anything to Jesus. We celebrate Him in our hearts. He comes even if there are cobwebs and dirty socks on the floor’ ~ I need to have this tattooed somewhere to remind me every moment of the day.

May I PLEASE share this post on my facebook page? Thanks so much. And I hope you feel better soon.

    Grace & peace,

  4. Mel – I so hear you on this! What a great post and a blessing reminder that HE is the reason for the season, and as long as we keep HIM at the front the rest will happen (or not) and we’ll be okay. Rest my dear, and take care of yourself! Wish I was closer so I could come be an Elf for you πŸ˜‰
